Kuldeep Spins his magic in the 1st ODI,took 6 wickets against England.
After clinching the T20 series Indian team were eyeing to improve the stats in England on the 1st ODI and who had thought that a wrist spinner would pick up 6 wickets on a pitch that has produced some record-breaking totals in the past couple of years. England did not play Alex Hales in this 1st ODI against India who was in good nick in this season that made Jhonny Bairstow to open the innings with Jason Roy. The England openers initially started well to play the Indian seamers Umesh Yadav and Siddharth Kaul with good strike rate. Both were hitting the good lengths and the results were favouring them at the start after Roy and Bairstow started to them on it was a matter of fact that Captain Kohli has to introduce spin in the powerplay as well in the 1st ODI against England.
Spin in the India camp meant the introduction of Kul-Cha ( Kuldeep and Chahal) to the attack where Captain Kohli wanted to slow down the run rate a bit. Kuldeep picked the first breakthrough for India when England’s Jason Roy tried playing an unorthodox shot that landed the ball in the hands of fast bowler Umesh Yadav. This indicated that the pitch will quite favour to the spinner and Kohli got stuck to Kuldeep and Chahal to bowl in the middle overs of the 1st ODI.
Soon the Spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendre Chahal started destructing England’s Openers and choked them for runs in the middle Overs. Kuldeep Yadav was having a great day with the bowl as he picked up 3 England openers in a span of 2 overs in the 1st ODI. Jason Roy, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow were the first three who went to the dressing room after Kuldeep Yadav dismissed them with his Spin mystery. Clearly, the England Batsmen were unable to pick the Left-hand china-man which made Kuldeep Yadav a lethal bowler there at the Tent Bridge. Kuldeep Yadav was having a great time with the bowl at the half end of overs. After finishing the first spell he was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets at a run rate of less than 3 runs per over.
After the first half, Kuldeep came once again when Kohli needed him as the partnership between Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler grew older. Kuldeep Yadav once again picked up Buttler as Dhoni grabbed the ball onto the leg side also making 4th wicket of Uttar Pradesh born wrist arm spinner. After completing 9 overs of his quota, Kuldeep was eyeing to pick Five-wicket haul in his last over of remaining over. On his last Over, he then picked Ben Stokes who was trying to hit Kuldeep Yadav for a reverse sweep. Ben Stokes wicket meant Kuldeep Yadav’s five-for and the celebration came as usual. His first five-for in the ODI’s and that too in England. Kuldeep didn’t stop here, on his last ball of the Quota he then Picked David Willey, making his figures of 6/25.
